DRESSAGE AWARD Any Pure or Partbred Standardbred (Stallion, Mare or Gelding) with the most points in any dressage competition (Open and SPPHAV events). Points to 10th places are considered.

RUNNER UP DRESSAGE 

JUMPING AWARD Any Pure or Partbred Standardbred (Stallion, Mare or Gelding) with the most points in any show jumping competition, Combined Training or Horse Trials competitions. Points to 10th places are considered.
RUNNER UP JUMPING 

FURTHER DISCIPLINE AWARD Any Pure or Partbred Standardbred with the most points in any other discipline such as - Endurance, Navigation Rides, ATHRA, Trail Rides, Western Riding, Archery, Games, Polo, Vaulting or 3 Phase etc.

SEASONAL MERIT AWARD - Most points accumulated towards the Merit Award in a season by a horse and rider combination.

COMMITTEE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARDS Awarded to a member who submits a SPPHAV Performance Card and who does not win one of the above awards.

PRESIDENT'S AWARD Awarded by the President of the SPPHAV.

BEST OVERALL LED EXHIBIT FOR THE SEASON Awarded to the horses (Stallion, Mare or Gelding) that gained the highest points in STANDARDBRED and OPEN.

BEST OVERALL RIDDEN EXHIBIT FOR THE SEASON Awarded to the horses (Stallion, Mare or Gelding) that gained the highest points in STANDARDBRED and OPEN.

BEST OVERALL HARNESS EXHIBIT FOR THE SEASON Awarded to the horses (Stallion, Mare or Gelding) that gained the highest points in STANDARDBRED and OPEN.

BEST OVERALL PERFORMANCE EXHIBIT FOR THE SEASON
Awarded to the horses (Stallion, Mare or Gelding, Pure or Partbred) that gained the highest points in STANDARDBRED and OPEN performance competitions.

HRCAV DUAL MEMBERSHIP AWARD Awarded to the member who gained the most points in HRCAV competitions for the season.

 MERIT AWARD

We have a brand new award on offer – It’s called the “SPPHAV Merit Award” and you don’t need to be out competing to be in the running for it nor have a performance card.

Please read the “About the SPPHAV Merit Award” document; the 2 pages advise how the SPPHAV Merit Award works and what is required to enter and work towards the first level.

There are two other documents “SPPHAV Merit Award Nomination Form” and “SPPHAV Merit Award Recording Your Results” document.

If after reading these documents you have questions, you will have learnt there is an email set up solely for the SPPHAV Merit Award so email your question(s) you may have.  This is an exciting addition to the opportunities members of the SPPHAV have available to them and we hope that many of you will take up the challenge and start aiming for level 1

EXCELLENCE IN ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

Excellence in Achievement awards require a high standard of competition [ie. numbers of horses or riders] in order to substantiate the naming of the award as Excellence in Achievement. Awards will be presented to any horse (rider for point 3) that is successful, for 3 show seasons, in being sashed:

• Supreme State Champion Led or Ridden Exhibits at the State Championships.
• State Champion Rider at the State Championships
• State Champion Dressage Test
• State Champion Show Jumper
• Supreme Led Exhibit or Champion Ridden at the Royal Melbourne Summer Horse Show
• Supreme Led Exhibit or Ridden Exhibit at the Barastoc Horse of the Year Show

If a horse succeeds in gaining this award 3 times but did not have the required number of horses as competition, because of outside factors influencing class numbers (such as drought), it will be eligible for the award so long as the total field of horses, over the 3 competitions in question, equals or exceeds 75% of the requirement.

1                     Supreme Led Exhibit at the State Championships – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 25 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

2                     Supreme Ridden Exhibit at the State Championships – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 20 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

3                     State Champion Rider at the State Championships – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 16 riders per year (including the rider under consideration) is required.

4                     State Champion Dressage Test – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 6 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

5                     State Champion Showjumper – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 6 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

6                     Supreme Led Exhibit at the Royal Melbourne Summer Horse Show – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 18 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

7                     Champion Ridden Exhibit at the Royal Melbourne Summer Horse Show – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 14 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

8                     Supreme Led Exhibit at the Barastoc Horse of the Year Show – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 18 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

9                     Supreme Ridden Exhibit at the Barastoc Horse of the Year Show – to be considered for Excellence in Achievement, a total field of 14 horses per year (including the horse under consideration) is required.

• The above criteria will apply to purebred and / or partbred Standardbred horses that are registered with the Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of Victoria Inc.
• Riders, contesting the Rider award, must be paid up members of the Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of Victoria Inc. at the time of competition.

Self-Nomination / Nomination by Another Member for an Excellence in Achievement Award

The SPPHAV recognise that success achieved outside of the above criteria may be overlooked.  To ensure this does not occur, members are invited to Self-Nominate or to Nominate a Member for an Excellence in Achievement award, so long as the following criteria can be substantiated:

• The owner of the horse must be a financial member of the SPPHAV for the entire time that the nomination period covers.
• The horse must have been registered, in that member’s name, prior to the commencement of the nomination period.
• The nomination period must cover at least 3 years.  One-off events will not qualify.
• In competition, the achievements of the horse / rider must demonstrate Excellence in regard to (1) type of competition (2) number of competitors in the competition and (3) continued outstanding placing by horse or rider in the competition.
• For achievement, not necessarily in competition, excellence and forward progress in the achievement must be demonstrated over at least a 3-year period.
• Supporting documentation, either by publication, certificates, or signed by administrators of the competition, must accompany the nomination as these awards will not be considered without it.
• The SPPHAV Committee reserves the right to request additional supporting documentation, if deemed necessary.
• Any Self-Nomination / Nomination by Another Member that does not succeed will be advised, in writing, with reasons for the denial.

Self-Nominations / Nominations by Another Member for an Excellence in Achievement Award are to be submitted on an official form, obtainable from the Secretary.

GLOSSARY:

Open Classes - any class that is open to any breed of horse.

Standardbred Only Classes - any classes that are open to Standardbred horses only.

Standardbred Partbred Classes - any classes that are open to Partbred Standardbred horses only. ie.  These classes are identified with an * on the show program.
